Frequently Asked Questions
Why is Emily running for State Senate in District 15?
I’m running to continue a tradition of leadership that values listening, accountability, and delivering real results, while keeping the needs of District 15 front and center.
What are your top priorities if elected?
My top priorities are supporting agriculture and small businesses, holding state government accountable for wasteful spending, and improving education and early intervention systems to deliver better outcomes for children and families.
How does your background prepare you to serve in the State Senate?
I’ve spent my career in public service working in the courts, child welfare, prevention, and public health, giving me a strong understanding of how state government works and where accountability is needed. Growing up on my family’s farm in Hartly keeps me connected to the realities facing farmers, small businesses, and families here at home in District 15.
Why is agriculture so important to your campaign?
I grew up on my family’s farm in Hartly, where I still live today. While I’m not a farmer myself, I know firsthand the challenges family farms and ag-based businesses face. Agriculture is vital to Delaware’s economy, our environment, and our way of life, and it deserves policies that support the people who make it possible.
What is your approach to state spending and accountability?
Every taxpayer dollar should be spent wisely and transparently. Accountability means setting clear goals, measuring outcomes, and fixing systems that don’t work. Responsible budgeting isn’t about politics—it’s about earning the trust of the people we serve.
What does “listening before legislating” mean to you?
It means showing up, asking questions, and understanding the real concerns of residents before proposing solutions. I believe the best policies are shaped by the people who live and work in our communities, not by politics in Dover. My commitment is to be accessible, responsive, and present—every day, not just during election season.
